Moodle

Moodle is RUB’s central learning platform. Many in-class seminars are supported by Moodle courses in which teachers provide you with information, learning materials or tools for cooperation. Courses

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (ZfW) offers courses within the areas of creative and academic writing as well as different key competences. Furthermore, you can be trained to become e-tutor for the e-learning section or peer tutor for the Writing Centre as part of the elective modules of the Optionalbereich (faculty of optional courses).

Preparing for your studies

You are interested in studying at RUB or would like to know how fit you are for your desired studies at a university in North Rhine-Westphalia? With the RUBChecks, we provide you with digital tests and learning materials to prepare you for your studies at Ruhr University Bochum. In addition, the Studicheck portal will help those interested in self-assessing their skills in mathematics and language and text comprehension, and thus to find out whether your school knowledge is sufficient to take up your desired study programme at a North Rhine-Westphalian university and/or, if needed, to refresh your knowledge.

Academic writing

All students of the Ruhr University Bochum are very welcome to come to the Writing Centre when they have questions concerning academic writing. You may come for individual consultations with our peer tutors at the “Writing Café” or make an appointment with a member of the academic staff. You can also join a writing group. We offer workshops for academic writing or courses at the faculty of optional courses (Optionalbereich) with credit points. If you are an engineering student, you might want to attend one of the courses of the “Schreibmaschine” which address the specifics of writing in your field of studies.

You do not want to study on your own? The study group finder LEARN2Gether will help you to look for study groups, to join existing groups or to start your own study group. Even without registering, you may look for a study group. If you do register with your LoginID and your password, you can join a group or start your own group.
