Consulting

The Centre for Teaching and Learning provides all faculty with advice on all questions and concerns regarding teaching and learning. You can contact us if you wish to receive feedback on how to design your course, to solve special problems, or to explore new opportunities for your in-class or online teaching. The topics of our consulting services are diverse: How can groups of students be activated? How can exams be designed in a meaningful way? How can students be motivated to read? To answer these and other questions, we use our expertise and experience and will provide you with support according to your needs.

Training courses

You will find a wide range of training courses around teaching and learning. In addition to the certified university didactics qualification programme (Hochschuldidaktisches Zertifikatsprogramm), the Centre for Teaching and Learning offers short introductions to e-learning tools and topics such as copyright as well as workshops on how to integrate writing in your classes. Moreover, we design training courses for visiting lecturers (Lehrbeauftragte). We offer courses from one-hour workshops to training courses of several days’ duration.

Coaching/Mentoring

Two individual formats of support for your teaching are the mentoring programme "LeMento – how to teach more consciously through mentoring" for all university teachers and teaching-related coaching sessions exclusively designed for professors. These invite you to share and exchange your ideas and questions concerning your work as a university teacher with an experienced mentor or an external coach who will have been especially selected to fit your purposes.

Moodle Support

Moodle is RUB’s central learning platform which helps you enrich your teaching by e-learning elements intuitively and without the need for any special prior experience. The online courses are used to complement your classroom teaching. Together with various other tools, Moodle can be used, for example, to support collaborative learning processes or to carry out testing and assessment. If you have questions concerning this learning platform, the RUBeL team will be pleased to be of help.

Ideas for teaching

At Ruhr-Universität Bochum, there are many examples of excellent teaching, which may provide other teachers with new impulses. We have compiled for you some of these examples from different faculties and institutes. This will help you get informed, for instance, on the productive use of e-learning elements. In addition, you will find practical tips on a wide range of teaching topics in our download centre. E-learning sponsorship

The e-learning section offers different sponsorships. These include the e-learning competition "5x5000", by which five innovative e-learning projects are funded each semester, each project with a sum of 5,000 euros. The eTutoring Module, in which students advise and support teachers regarding their use of e-learning elements over the course of a semester, is another one of our offers.
